水冷螺桿式冷水機組也是冷水機組的一種，由于它的主要構成部件使用了螺桿式壓縮機，所以名稱可稱為水冷螺桿式冷水機組。它的冷凍出水溫度范圍為3℃~20℃，可廣泛應用于塑膠，電鍍，電子，化工，制藥，印刷，食品加工等各種工業冷凍制程需使用冷凍水的領域，或大型商場，酒店，工廠，醫院等各種中央空調工程中需使用冷凍水集中供冷的領域。

從機組出來的冷凍水，進入室內的風機盤管、變風量空氣調節機等末端裝置，在室內與對流空氣發生熱交換，在此過程中，水由于吸收室內空氣的熱量（向室內空氣散熱）而溫度上升，而室內空氣經過室內換熱器后溫度下降，在風機的帶動下，送入室內，從而降低室內的空氣溫度，而溫度上升后的冷凍水在水泵的作用下重新進入機組，如此循環，從而達到連續制冷的目的。
